Introduction

The climate is typically Mediterranean and extremely mild. Indeed, the almond and orange trees are already in blossom when the majority of northern Europe in still immersed in winter gloom.

The warm to hot summer last for approximately three quarters of the year, at least along the coastal zone. The hottest month is August with average temperatures of 30c (86f). The cooler months are December to February. In January the temperature is usually around 15c (59f).

Rainfall is low (about16 inches a year) with most falling in late Autumn and early Spring.
